A Writing Guide for Novice Scholars

I am a PhD student. This book was recommended by an instructor who cared about making me a better scholar. Stott's writing advice is crisp, clear, and actionable. After I implemented his recommendations, my assignments were consistently noted for their quality of expression. My writing is judged on what I say (content), not how I say it (style). I will always struggle with my writing. In spite of that fact, I now have a book that guides and encourages me with practical, effective advice. I wish I'd had this book earlier in my academic career!

This book explained how to improve my writing

I had a Ph.D., needed to publish, thought I was a 'good writer' but in fact my writing was obtuse, rambled, unfocused and ineffective. A supervisor gave me this book. Within two years my writing was getting easily accepted for trade and academic publishing alike. Writing is now something I consider one of my strengths. I recommend this book to staff and students.

Best Book On Nonfiction Writing

This is an excellent book. I would rate this as the best book on nonfiction writing. Bill Stott encourages you to break and bend the rules and tells you why you should start a sentence with "and" or "but." His writing flows perfectly and you can practically read it right through like a regular book. If you need suggestions on how to improve your writing slgihtly or a lot, this book is for you!

After much hesitation on his part the author was persuaded, and appointed, by the Board of Directors of the Genealogical Society of Utah, to undertake such a work.   

The principles of the Gospel do not change. In connection with the lessons previously published, doctrines of the Church have been considered. This present text is not an attempt to give to the saints something new. The ordinances of baptism, laying on of hands, ordination, etc., are the same today as they have been through all generations since the beginning of time. Yet it is a fact, as every Latter-day Saint can say, that these principles which never change are in another sense always new. All who delight in the keeping of the commandments of the Lord are made to rejoice in every discussion of these principles. They never tire of hearing them. Yet old and familiar subjects may be dressed in new clothes; they need not always be presented in the self-same way; and it is always the application of Gospel truths in human lives which gives them their vital significance. It is hoped that the study and discussion of the principles here presented will inspire Latter-day Saints to be awake to their privileges and duties, to live more worthy lives, and to be more valiant in the service of God.   

This book has been prepared not only for study by genealogical workers, but for general use throughout the Church.

The best in one of the best series

I got several of the "Feeling" books for my son when he was two, and I've simply not found a better series for discussing various emotions. The beauty is in the simplicity of the sentences -- it keeps the concepts clear so that a toddler can understand them, while leaving plenty of room for discussion with your older child. The illustrations demonstrate the ideas on each page vary well, and are great for asking questions with your toddler on what's happening in the pages and how the characters are feeling.

What I said above is true of all of the books, but the reason why I'm writing my review on this one, the "Kind" one, is because it was my son's favorite. He was very taken with the illustrations, and how to be kind to others. I still remember the day I went to pick him up and he excitedly exclaimed, "I was KIND!" when I heard about what a good day he had. If you don't get any of the other books in this series, get this one.

This is a great book for kids that will be visiting Disney World.

This book was not what I expected. I thought it was going to be about things adults could do to increase the amusement of children while visiting Disney World. Instead, this book is for children to increase their own enjoyment of visiting Disney World. The book is for the child to plan their trip, then to take the book with them during the trip. There is a section in the back for them to gather autographs from the characters. I love that it encourages a kid to read! It guides the child in determining what they may enjoy the most during their visit. It also sets the stage for the child to become even more excited about their trip: "10 days before the trip...; 9 days before..." etc.

The book is written in a manner that lets the child decide which portion(s) of the book they want to know more about without having to read the book from beginning to end. It is also good for children of different ages and reading levels; although, I believe it is probably not for children who are not yet in school. I suspect the child should have some reading ability before this book will appeal to them on a personal level.

I liked the way the book was presented so well that I ordered three more copies - one for each grandchild. I intend to give each child their own copy well before we leave on our trip and I intend to tell them that while the book is for "2016" the general information will be good for future trips. I am all for any book that will encourage a child to read and dream. It is good for them.

Great Tips! A Must Purchase for your WDW Trip!

I am so very happy I purchased this book. We will be traveling to WDW in September 2016 and although I have been to Disney before, many, many things have changed so I needed something that would provided updated, clear information on FastPass+, Advanced Dining Reservations, Hotel Selection and general overall guidance regarding the Disney Parks. I saw this book in store before purchasing on Amazon and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. The colors inside of the book are great and I love that they have included pictures with many of their reviews. I also love the coupons that they included in the back of the book. They are going to be a great help when we are there. The tips and tricks that are included are awesome and I plan on using a lot of them when we travel to WDW. If you're taking a Disney Cruise, there is a small section in the back of the book for that as well. I'm not sure how good it is as I haven't looked at it, but just for an FYI. In the way back of the book as well, they have laid out a few pages for you to create an itinerary for your trip. It's perfect and gives you spaces for flight and hotel information, FastPass+ reservations and Advanced Dining Reservations. Although I had already booked our hotel and park tickets before purchasing the book, I really liked being able to read the reviews of each of the hotels and the differences in each of the Park Tickets. If you're looking for an excellent, overall travel book for Disney, this is the one to get!

My wife is a Disney Freak and buys this book as soon as it comes out every year. She uses it to plan our trips and they make the whole trip better. It lists everything you need to know about disney.
