There is an ease that feels just right.

Tanaaz starts the introduction by describing her own spiritual "waking up" process, which is a useful example of how we can all transcend our trauma and victim mentality to reconnect with our soul.

The author's simplicity and clarity are what really strike me as I read through this book. It gives a freshness and lightness to a subject that can be so dense with esoteric teachings. Everything she writes feels like a gentle nudge towards love of self for the purpose of being of service to others.

There is such lovely practical information here. And, despite the simplicity, it is not easy work. I feel I could spend a lifetime working out what's contained in this book. She has pulled together the kernels of the truth of a spiritual practice and presented it in such a way that it feels neither overwhelming nor unreachable nor shaming nor disciplinary. There is an ease that feels just right.

About the Author
Roger Lancelyn Green was born in 1918 and lived in Oxford and at his family home in Cheshire, which the Greens had owned for more than 900 years. He loved storytelling and was fascinated by traditional fairy tales, myths and legends from around the world. He was a professional actor, a librarian and a teacher. His retellings include Egyptian, Greek and Norse legends, plus a retelling of Robin Hood. He also wrote many books for adults, including a biography of his friend C. S. Lewis, creator of the The Chronicles of Narnia. Roger Lancelyn Green died in 1987.

The Tale of Troy for adults and kids!

The Iliad and Odyssey were written around 2,700 years ago. At that time they were not written down but memorized! With the Iliad having over 15,000 lines and the Odyssey over 12,000 there are not many of us, yes even us adults, who would want to read all that let alone memorize it!

This rendition by Roger which includes both stories from the Iliad and Odyssey was originally penned by him in 1958. It is brilliant! I read this aloud to our children as we have been studying Ancient Greece these past two weeks so felt this would be a good book to include in our study and I am SO glad we did. They loved it and I learned a lot also so we are all a little more educated now!

There are a few sketches/drawings scattered throughout the book but I am not sure what they really added. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This is a good book for kids (like my son) who love action and adventure stories. It is wonderfully adapted for a younger audience by Roger Lancelyn Green, and gives kids a good basic understanding of the ancient myths that so influence modern cartoons in terms of good and evil.

More manageable than the ones in my childhood...

I remember having velvet art posters as a kid. They came with terrible markers that lasted about 2 minutes and 75 sq. feet of space to be colored for each one. This is not what you had as a kid.

The pictures themselves are not the same 60's-70's trippy art but more realistic of what the kids see in their coloring books today. Not sure if that's a pro or a con though.

All of the pages are nicely bound in a book with some varying sizes within. My 5 year old colored a narrow one to punch out (yes it was perforated) and give to her brother as a bookmark. I hole punched the top and she added a ribbon. The material is a heavy cardstock, if not cardboard like and has held up the last month or so as a daily bookmark.

Again, each page is manageable size, the quality of markers is sustainable to finish the pictures and my daughter loved it.

Really Fun, Enjoyed by Both Boys and Girls, a Great Gift

Velvet Art is an art activity kit bound into a book. Klutz, the publisher, makes many different art and craft kits sold in a book format.

These are cardboard pages that are held within plastic sleeves, you remove the pages to color them. The pages are quite sturdy so cannot tear or rip by accident, another good thing about this kit. Each page has velvet in between the images to be colored. The kit comes with thick markers which are easy for younger hands to grasp. It is impossible to `color outside the lines' because when the marker touches the velvet on the edge of the area being colored, it is forced to stop. This results in perfect looking colored pages, which is rewarding for all kids, and especially younger kids who may not be used to doing such a perfect job on regular coloring book pages. The markers that come with the kit and are held in a re-sealable pouch attached to the spiral binding. Three years later, our markers are still not dried out.

There are ten pages to color in total. One page can be turned into a frame, there are some small images that are perforated to be made into gift tags. There are two smaller images which they say can be turned into a gift card and there is one bookmark. The images are a mix of boy-interest (one is space, another monster) and girl-interest (one has a cute mermaid) and others are unisex.

One year we gave this as a gift to six children in our family aged 5-10, to play with at our Christmas Eve family celebration. Each child had their own book/kit and all the kids loved it, girls and boys, younger and the older. Even the boys who didn't usually like coloring books enjoyed this as the black velvet makes a stark contrast and the colors pop, and because it `comes out perfect every time'.

I highly recommend this book for children who need to be kept busy and quiet, such as at a big family party, to be given as a Christmas gift, to use when on a long car trip or airplane ride, or for any child who likes to color who is looking for something different.

The only downside is that the markers are not labeled as being washable, they seem to be the `regular' markers, so the younger kids have to be careful about getting them on clothes or on furnishings.

We own many of the different Klutz books/kits and have been happy with all of them so far!

Know your intended user; can be too simplified

It probably appeals to children or adult beginners. However I found the pages and designs
to be limited in offerings. If I had known more about the contents, I would have bought
a different book.

The Osteo Standards"Bible"

This was the only standards book I used throughout my anthropology undergrad career and during post-graduation field work. It is well organized, informative and easy to use. While I do wish there was more information on pathology included in the text, this is the most extensive standards book you are likely to find.

Standard book is great as with the shipping of the book.

This book gives the forms you will be using as with the information you will need to put on the forms and with detail to why and where. It is black and white print no colors to the pictures, but gives great examples to what you're needing to look for on a bone to identify what trauma, pathology or taphonomy you may have when your in your field work.Plus many other great up-to-date information.

Definitely the "the standards" for skeletal analysis

This little spiral bound book goes to the lab with me everyday. Buikstra and Ubelaker have combined information from multiple authors to explain the procedures of analyzing human skeletal remains. The forms in the back of the book are the standard forms for skeletal inventory and analysis used in labs througout the country. This book will satisfy both a beginner, and an advanced scientist, however may be difficult for some beginners to understand without some knowledge of osteology. Anyone going into forensic anthropology or bioarchaeology will need this book!
