This is an amazingly useful book for medical students

It provides a clear and concise explanation of cardiac electrophysiology, with clinical correlations of arrhythmias and the drugs used to treat them. It also has sections on ischemic heart disease, congestive heart failure and a number of related subjects. I always had problems with electrophysiology especially, and was completely bewildered by arrhythmias until I found this book. The only down side is that it may or may not be detailed enough in the nitpicky things that certain professors like to test on, but used in conjunction with class notes, it's a gem. It is a very well-written introduction to and overview of heart function and dysfunction.

just received this for Christmas, and as a die hard fan of The Cure's since '88 - this was quite the treat. Having seen Andy Vella (and Parched Art) all over the Cure's artwork for so many albums, it was great to see inside the artistic process and private vaults of the artist. I love this book!

I love this book!

I'm an RN currently learning Botox injections and I love this book. This invaluable resource is not only guiding me through how and where to inject, but also where not to inject as to avoid complications such as eyelid ptosis. The illustrations at the beginning have given me a solid foundational knowledge of the facial muscles and the actions of each, which is imperative for learning Botox injections. I highly recommend this book!

Seems very comprehensive and accurate

seems to be written by a doctor who is an expert in the use of botox. starts with the basic and works its way up. starts with explaining the muscle that will need to be injected. Also, very importantly states where not to inject. Lastly, makes it easy by showing great pictures.

In 1966, members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, an African American civil rights group with Southern roots, joined Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers union on its 250-mile march from Delano to Sacramento, California, to protest the exploitation of agricultural workers. SNCC was not the only black organization to support the UFW: later on, the NAACP, the National Urban League, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and the Black Panther Party backed UFW strikes and boycotts against California agribusiness throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s.

To March for Others explores the reasons why black activists, who were committed to their own fight for equality during this period, crossed racial, socioeconomic, geographic, and ideological divides to align themselves with a union of predominantly Mexican American farm workers in rural California. Lauren Araiza considers the history, ideology, and political engagement of these five civil rights organizations, representing a broad spectrum of African American activism, and compares their attitudes and approaches to multiracial coalitions. Through their various relationships with the UFW, Araiza examines the dynamics of race, class, labor, and politics in twentieth-century freedom movements. The lessons in this eloquent and provocative study apply to a broader understanding of political and ethnic coalition building in the contemporary United States.

About the Author

Thomas G. Weiss is Presidential Professor of Political Science at The CUNY Graduate Center and Director of the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, where he is co-director of the United Nations Intellectual History Project. He is the chair of the Academic Council on the UN System and the former editor of its journal, Global Governance. He has written or edited some 35 books and numerous articles about multilateral approaches to international peace and security, humanitarian action, and sustainable development.

Sam Daws is Executive Director of the United Nations Association of the UK. He has served as a senior policy advisor on UN issues for 17 years, including three years as First Officer in the Executive Office of Secretary-General Kofi Annan. He previously directed a Geneva-based international consultancy. He undertook doctoral studies on UN reform at New College, Oxford, and has been a visiting fellow at Cambridge and Yale Universities. He has co-authored or edited six books.
